Having identified that there were no local wheelchair sports clubs for anyone, the Bath Romans was born from a huge need to fill such a large gap in sporting provision!
Co-founder Alex experienced wheelchair basketball whilst studying at the University of Bath. Alex recognised the vast enjoyment the sport gave participants and how inclusive the game was. The sport is one of very few that has people with and without disabilities playing at the same time!
Some taster sessions and fundraising later, Nova acquired enough sports wheelchairs to start the club in 2019.
Now the Romans train every week and welcomes players completely new to the sport as well as those that have played for years. The Adult team compete in the English Welsh Wheelchair Basketball League to give competitive opportunties as well as recreational ones.

The Romans Youth Section began in September 2021 after significant demand and popularity! The team play friendly matches against other local teams. Siblings are very welcome.
You do not need a disability to play with the Romans, nor do you need your own sports wheelchair. This will be provided to you for the session.
Come give the sport a try and we promise you won't be disappointed!
